Coating Characterization
The coating has excellent resistance to sliding wear,
abrasion and erosion. It is tough and reveals good fatigue
and impact resistance. General corrosion resistance is good.
Since initial powder particles have porosity, the coating
retains micro-pores (0.1 micron size). Thus, thin coatings
require sealing for immersion services. This is the most
widely used coating among tungsten carbide grades.
Typical Applications
Heavy abrasion wear and erosion, sliding wear (impellers,
wear plates in milling machines, ball valves and gates,
sealing rings, shafts, hydraulic cylinders, centrifugal
screens, different types of paper rolls, sink rolls in steel
galvanizing, table rolls for heat treatment equipment, wire
drawing capstans, chill rolls in acetate film processing,
dies of plastic extrusion machines, etc.); widely used as
a hard chrome alternative coating.
